Christmas Time
The Christmas period went well for TEC this year with a variety of events being held across campus as well as in Town. The highlight of the period was the Medic's Christmas Ball which was held in Studio 7 on the University of Nottingham's Kings Meadow Campus on the 7th of December. The venue lends itself well for large events thanks to its former life as Carlton TV's largest studio space.
The evening began with a live band who continued throughout the meal then handed over to a local DJ to complete the night. The sound package consisted of TECs Nexo Alpha as main PA and the CS series as monitors, with a Yamaha M7CL as the console. The lighting package was made up of TECs intelligent fixtures including Mac250 Krypotons and washes, as well as High End Technobeams. Pinspots were used to high light the dinning tables and give ambient lighting to create a more intimate atmosphere. Stage lighting was enhanced with 24 Par 64 cans and the lighting rig was enhanced with a crowd blinders and Atomic strobes. These were all flown from Litec QX30 truss.

Big Bang
TEC provided a full sound and lights package for this years annual fireworks party at Lenton and Wortley Hall. The event, the only one of it's kind held by a hall of residence was split into two sections. The fireworks, which occurred at a special location within walking distance of the Hall, and the high quality entertainment.
TEC provided Nexo Alpha PA systems to both venues, with CS series series wedges as monitors. The lighting rig in the marquee consisted of TEC's MAC 250 Kyrptons, Martin Wizards, crowd blinders and six Par 64s, supported from the ceiling and a Trilite goal post. The main dining hall contained a Litec QX30 truss box which supported the remainder of TEC's intelligent lighting rig, including MAC 250 Kryptons, Mac 250 Washes, High End Technobeams, Martin Atomic Strobes, and UV cannons.

Weekone 2007
The start of University is notorious for starting with a big bang and this year was no exception at the University of Nottingham. TEC were asked again to provide the sound and lighting for Weekone which started with a multimedia show at the Freshers Address to introduce new students to the Students' Union.

The week continued with events every night, culminating in an intense weekend. Friday night saw TEC providing hi-spec sound and lighting for 5 different venues across the University Campus. Saturday, at the satellite Jubilee campus, involved an 11 metre QX30 truss box supporting TEC's intelligent lighting rig and a LASER. Noise levels are always a concern at an event in a glass atrium in a highly populated area of Nottingham, but this year the event passed without a complaint of either being too loud or quiet.

"Dear Adam,
I just wanted to write and say a belated thank you on behalf of the SU Exec for all your committee's hard work during Week One. In particular the superhuman efforts which went into making me and Elle look so good at Freshers Address (!) and your work at Freshers' Fayre. Please pass on our appreciation to all those who's efforts made the week such a success.
Thank you again" - Gerald Bates, Students' Union President 2007/2008

TEC's on the Move
The University of Nottingham's Students' Union bar underwent a large renovation this summer, which included a expansion of venues and facilities available to Students. To create part of this extra space a number of things had to be rehoused, including the TEC store room. This has moved to large premises else where on campus, still within walking distance of the Portland Building. The new space is very welcome, as has the flexibility of the area which has been provided. The inconvenience caused by the distance between store room and Office, which remains on the Mezzanine floor in the Portland Building, pales into insignificance when compared with the benefits the new store room and new Venue have created.
TEC played an integral part in the bar developments having been involved from the start of the proposal with quotes and advice for the Students' Union. The new development has enabled the SU to have a dual venue system containing a bar, called Mooch, and specific Night venue, called The Venue. These changes have increased the number and variety of nights the SU can provide for Students'.
As the new developments open TEC look forward to the wide range opportunities that it brings with it.

Green Belt Festival 2007
This years Green Belt saw a bit of a shake up with new venues being introduced and stages being moved. The Underground stage formally known as Stage 2, found it's self across the corridor. This led to new challenges for the TEC crew who provide a full sound and lighting package for the Underground stage.
A Nexo Alpha Front of House Pa system, with Yamaha M7CL console provided crystal clear sound with enough headroom to satisfy all guest engineers. Our monitor rig, with Soundcraft SM12 console and Klark Teknic graphics gave all bands the clarity and volume they needed.
With power still being at the fore front of the lighting designers mind, TEC put their intelligent lighting rig to good use. A wide range of looks were easily achieved using TEC's Mac250 washes, Mac 250 kryptons, Wizards and Technobeam with LED pixeline providing a dynamic point of interest.
The event ran smoothly with no technical difficulties. TEC enjoyed continuing our succesful relationship with Greenbelt Festival and looks forward to future festivals.

World Jamboree
This August saw the Scouts 100th anniversary and to celebrate this over 64,000 Scouts from every Scouting country out there, converged on on Highfields park for the 21st World Jamboree.
After preforming such sterling work at Euro Jam two years ago, TEC was invited back to provide crew and equipment for the Adult stage, better known as the Island Hub. The Weeks went smoothly with exciting new challenges, including transporting kit across a mud pit and creating an authentic fire using Par 64s, gels, paper and smoke machine.
The organisers were impressed with TEC's professionalism and capabilities and have invited TEC to be involved in further Centenary celebrations later in the year.
TEC enjoyed the experience and look forward to working closely with the Scouting community in the near future.

Hu Stu Summer Party - 2007
Hugh-Stewart Hall's reputation for excellence extends to all aspects of hall life and the 2007 summer party was no exception. TEC was brought onto the project from an early planning stages and working together with the JCR and Hall management provided all technical services for the entire event.
A festival grade 28k Nexo Alpha PA system was complimented by a one-off truss design supporting a lighting rig comprising of intelligent fixtures and PAR 64s was station in the main room. This saw Glodie Lookin Chain and Scratch Perverts performing to a capacity crowds. Three other venues ran simultaneously, including and outdoor band stage and two further DJ rooms, each with PA and lighting. The night ran smoothly and compliments were received from the acts and venue. We look forward to returning again in the future.

2007 Graduation Ball
The SU Graduation ball is one of the highlights in the social calendar at the University of Nottingham. It was held on Thursday the 7th of June at Colwick Hall in Nottingham. The evening was started by a dinner and reception for 500 guest, which was proceeded by an evening of entertainment for and additional 2000 guests. TEC provide all the sound, lighting and power for the event and worked in a unprecedently close relationship with the organising committee.
TEC equipment consisted of Nexo alpha as the main PA in both venues, with the CS and PS series as monitors in different venues. The consoles used included a Yamaha M7CL, Soundcraft SM12 and Alan and Heath GL2400. The lighting consisted of Mac250 Kryptons and Washes, Technobeams, Atomics and PAR 64s.
The multi venue event started with the Jonny Slate Jazz Quartet playing through out the meal, before both venues kicked off with great sounding sets by Magic Taxi in the events tent and Invaders of the Planet Funk in the Lakeside Pavilion. As the night wore on the celebrated Radio 1 DJ Vernon Kay preformed his only set to Students this year. Andy Hoe, the local student night DJ, finished the night off in the Lakeside Pavilion, whilst in the events tent the widely acclaimed Cut Up Boys finished the night on a high.
