TEC provided sound, lighting and video for the big marquee party at the end of Week One 2009. The event is actually held in the same marquee that is used during the week to house the “Freshers’ Fair”, so it required a quick turn around at the end of week to get the rig up and working for the Friday night party!
The party was split into two: The first half provided the crowd with live performances and DJ music played over our PA system. During the second half we switched over to a silent disco, where all party-goers grabbed their own wireless headphones and we broadcasted two DJs for the remainder of the evening. This proved to be a great success.
The focus of the rig was a large, multi-layered stage at one end of the marquee. The larger lower deck was used as a performance space for some of the University’s performance groups, while the taller deck was used for the live DJs.
Sound wise we put in a 25kw Nexo PA system, along with monitor wedges for the live performers. Lighting wise there were a series of long trusses running all the way down the centre of the 60m long marquee, holding a rig containing more than 20 Mac 250 Kryptons and Washes, Strobes and Blinders. We also provided atmospheric lighting for the huge 40m purpose built bar! We also provided AV equipment for a group of VDJs – this included two 10’ x 8’ rear projection screens and two 6000 lumen projectors!
We are very much looking forward to being part of this event in 2010!
